CHAPTER FIFTEEN

THE SERPENT AND SADOMASOCHISM

We saw in a previous chapter, The Plumed Serpent, how the symbol of the reptile has significance at many levels of the life experience.  At the level of the DNA, the serpent or reptile stands for the programmed resonance in the magnetic flux tubes that is the essence of genetic material.  At that level there is only wave patterns as magnetic resonance.  The serpent is also the symbol of desire, in other words it is the symbol of what motivates us throughout life.  The serpent is at the very core of our psyche.  It is the symbol for the umbilical cord that is severed at birth.  This is the source of the sense of lack, that something is missing, that is inherent in us all.  Many philosophers, going back originally to Plato, acknowledge that there is indeed a sense of lack in the human psyche that is the source of desire.  Prior to birth we were in a blissful state experiencing the conditions in the womb through our dreams.  At birth this is all suddenly and traumatically lost to us, our umbilical cord is severed, and we are set upon a path throughout life to try to find compensation for what we have lost.  All the objects to which we attach ourselves throughout life are mere substitutes for the loss of the first object, the umbilical cord, when we were first introduced into the world.  But unfortunately all these subsequent objects can never fully regain for us that sense of bliss that we originally experienced in the womb.  The sense of lack can never be totally erased and to that extent every subsequent attachment is somehow less than perfect.  There is always something missing, some imperfection, some inadequacy, some negativity in the objects of this world.  The symbol of the serpent appears regularly in our dreams as our psyche grapples with this sense of loss throughout life.

The serpent also represents the female nipple which is the first object we turn to after birth, and at a later stage of development the serpent represents the phallus for both sexes.   Conventionally the phallus is only considered to be the male penis, but in fact the prototype of the phallus is the umbilical cord.  This merges in our psyche with the female nipple, and finally umbilical cord, nipple and penis all form a composite in our psyche that we identify as the male penis, and call the phallus.  The ultimate significance of the phallus is the connection with the mother that is lost at birth, and for which the serpent is the universal symbol.  We see also how the serpent can stand for different things depending upon the stage of development that is in question.  At the point of conception the serpent represents the DNA, during gestation it represents the umbilical cord, for the neonate the serpent is the nipple, and for adolescents and adults of either sex the serpent is the penis.  A most significant symbol indeed is this symbol of the serpent, and this is why it plays such a prominent place in so many ancient religions, Maya, Aztec, Hindu, Egyptian as well as in the religions currently in ascendancy such as the Jewish and Christian religions.  In the last named religion for example the serpent is synonymous with the Devil.  That is to say its significance is elevated to a supernatural being that is deemed almost as powerful as God, the Creator.  A formidable figure indeed!

After birth the primary urge is to find compensation for the loss of the first object, and there arises an insatiable need for control, mastery or power over other objects.  This is a universal urge that finds itself most strongly expressed in humans beings, for whom the need for control, mastery and power can take a virtually infinite number of different pathways.  With humans indeed this need for control mastery and power can even turn inwards on themselves which means that we are all to a greater or lesser extent sadomasochistic.  Everything that we do throughout life, our career, our social life, our recreation, our causes and interests and desires, all have this common origin in a sadomasochistic need for power.  This is will to power as identified by Nietzsche about 200 years ago, and throughout all the ages it has found its symbolic representation as the serpent.  If we are entering an era where the signs are indicating that the serpent is going to return or re-assert itself then this means that we are all to receive knowledge or enlightenment as to the significance of the serpent at all these different levels.  The serpent in the DNA, the serpent in our religions, the serpent in our dreams and our psyche all share a common thread, that is to say, the symbol of the true nature of our desire.  Knowledge of what motivates us.  Ultimately knowledge of what is ‘good’ and what is ‘evil.’

David Icke in his book Infinite Love is the Only Truth – Everything Else is Illusion (1) seems to have a feeling for the significance of the serpent at all levels.  He argues forcefully that the DNA acts as a biological computer that is responsible for creating the illusion that we call life.  It was only after he finished writing this book, and it was in production stage, that he came across the networked intelligence theory of Fosar & Bludorf.  He added an appendix to his book “Human DNA is a Biological Internet – Say Russian Scientists” where he presents the text of an article circulating on the internet about the theories of Fosar & Bludorf.  Icke states that the networked intelligence theory supports the main themes in his book, and to a large extent it does, but with reservations.  For instance, Icke argues for the existence of ‘other-dimensional’ beings who are capable of shape-shifting into human form.  He says that these other-dimensional beings are essentially reptilian in character and that they have shape-shifted into the Illuminati families (a group of rich and powerful families) who rule the world. The DNA as a biological computer is said to be responsible for this.  He explains: “A recurring theme of the ancient and modern accounts is the way these entities can ‘shape-shift’ between human and reptilian form.  This will sound fantastic to most people, but when you appreciate the illusory nature of the ‘body’, it will be much easier to understand how shape-shifting is possible.  The body is not ‘solid’, it just appears that way to the five senses, as we shall pursue in more detail shortly.  The body is a vibrating energy field and the shape-shifting is not between two ‘solid’ forms, the human and reptilian; it is a switch between fields of resonating energy.  These other-dimensional reptilians ‘wear’ a human body like a spacesuit while manipulating behind the vibrational veil.  This veil is what we call the electromagnetic spectrum and human sight can ‘see’ a mere fraction even of that.”

Icke goes on: “The Reptilians and other non-human entities operate in the realms unseen by human sight.  When they do move in and out of our tiny frequency range they seem, to human witnesses, to suddenly ‘appear’ and ‘disappear,’ but, in fact, they have only entered our frequency range and then left.  They have not disappeared, just exited the frequencies that our limited sense of sight can access.  When our five senses look at these Illluminati families, like the British Royals, the Bushes, and so on, we see their five-sense form – apparently human.  But behind that mask is the reptilian entity vibrating on a slightly different frequency and controlling the thought processes and actions of the ‘human’ level.  Put most simply, the human body is ‘possessed’ by the reptilian, which is able to hide from public view, and the population has no idea who is really in control.”  It is this concept of identifying the rich and powerful with a reptilian motif that first attracted me to Icke’s book because evidently Icke has identified the sadomasochistic need for power that is inherent in us all.  So acutely does he see this that he is led to assert that the rich and powerful actually shape-shift into reptiles which is certainly not a sight that the rest of us would be familiar with.  See Figure 1.

Figure 1. According to Icke the world leaders are capable of shape-shifting into reptilian figures.

Icke maintains that the DNA has generated these other-dimensional reptilian beings to govern human society.  The primary expression of the reptilian brain is greed and excess.  He quotes the French anthropologist G. Clotaire Rapaille : “The desire for excess comes from the ‘reptilian brain,’ the earliest, most primitive structures in our mental evolution.  The reptilian wants to grab as much food as possible, to be as big and powerful as possible, because it is focused on survival.  When it comes to a choice between the intellect and the reptilian, the reptilian always wins.  Satisfying that inner lizard has its downsides.  Our insatiable appetites have left Americans 9 pounds heavier, on average, than we were two decades ago, and more vulnerable than ever to heart disease and diabetes.  We’re racking up mountains of debt (the late fees we have paid on credit cards have more than tripled since 1996, to $7.3 billion a year) and burning up fossil fuels like crazy.  We demand things that, deep down, we don’t really want or even use.”  It can be seen that it is claimed the reptilian brain is responsible for our consumer society.  The reptile in us causes us to consume.  This is a remarkable claim.  No evidence is offered as to why the reptile is more greedy or avaricious than any other creature, including ourselves.  However once we understand that the serpent stands for sadomasochism and the basic features of the consumer society are the desire to possess and control objects, (leading to greed and overconsumption and hoarding of wealth), we can appreciate that this negative feature in human society is not due to our reptilian brain at all, but is caused by our insatiable urge to find compensation for the loss that we suffered at birth.  If Icke sees the rich and powerful shape-shifting into reptiles it has to do with their sadomasochistic drive for power that is much more pronounced.  This is a psychological feature in the consciousness of us all and therefore the networked intelligence in the DNA is ultimately responsible for it.  The DNA has set up humans society with this inbuilt negativity, the serpent, and there can be no advancement in terms pf ‘goodness’ until we come to terms with it.

According to Icke, there is a sinister force in the DNA.  He refers to it as the Matrix.  This sinister force manipulates the mental processes of human beings to make them servile pawns in the hands of the Illuminati.  But he also maintains that this control that the Illuminati has over human society is only an illusion.  “We are ‘living’ in a highly sophisticated version of a virtual-reality game or, put another way, a holographic Internet giving the illusion of 3D.  One of the big questions people ask is why, if we are creating our own illusory reality, do we all see the same basic world in street scenes, people, cars, roads, forests and mountains?  The answer is that we are being fed frequency signals by the force manipulating the Matrix and we decode them into the collective reality we call the world.  We add our own spin to this in that we differ in our opinions of what we collectively ‘see’; but we all share the same basic reality because we are decoding the same signals from the Matrix.  This reality is not out there, it is in here’ – inside our heads.  Or, more accurately, it is in our genetic data bank, DNA.  As the writer Edgar Allan Poe put it: ‘All we see and seem is but a dream within a dream’… a hologram within a hologram.” Quite clearly Icke is describing the networked intelligence in the DNA, however his account becomes illogical for on the one hand he would have us believe that the networked intelligence in the DNA is responsible for setting up the entire illusion that we call life or reality, and yet at other times he states that there is only this Matrix force in the DNA that is responsible for our subjugation by and subservience to the reptilian shape-shifting Illuminati.  He makes no clear distinction between this negative Matrix force and the overall creative force of the DNA as a biological computer or networked intelligence so we may take it that the reptilian or sadomasochistic aspects are in fact programmed into us as an essential feature of this illusory life.

This sinister matrix element in our genetic makeup actually leads Icke to talk about the reptilian or snake-like properties of the DNA.  “If you saw DNA massively magnified it would look like a snake (See Figure Two) and, not by coincidence, a major symbol throughout the ancient world was the double helix snake image known today as the caduceus (Figure Three).  This is the symbol of the medical profession.  DNA, the foundation of ‘physical’ form, has a reptilian-like appearance and the most ancient part of the human brain is known as the R-complex or reptilian brain.  I’ll come to how the Reptilians or Illuminati fit into all this in the next chapter.  What we think of as ‘physical’ is actually a holographic illusion, and the base form of the DNA, as with everything, is a frequency field, a sort of floppy disk or CD holding the genetic program.  We need to think in computer terms to understand most simply how it all works.”

Figure 2. DNA has a reptillian feel about it when massively magnified.

Figure 3. The ancient double felix symbol snake image known today as the caduceus, a symbol for DNA and todays's medical profession.

Icke goes on: “When we procreate we see the physical expression of this with the sperm from the father fusing with an egg from the mother, and the baby developing from this union.  But on an energy level, beyond the holographic appearance of 3D, it is two ‘software programs’ being copied onto another disk.  The DNA of father and mother are downloaded and the result is a ‘disk’ or program containing a fusion of both – the baby.”  Elsewhere he states: “These energies – frequencies – recode the DNA of the resulting child into the frequency pattern of the Reptilian or other entity, so making the child compatible for ‘possession.’  You could think of it as rewriting a computer program or adding additional information to a disk.  What holds the information on a computer disk? – a magnetic field.  It is the same principle with the DNA…”  Clearly Icke has come to a realization of a computerized force in the DNA that is driving our society by means of an inherent software program.  The programming is set up in such a way that we may all share a common motivation through the trauma of birth.  There is only one way to share in this illusion and that is to be born into it.  None on us can escape the negativity for that is the price we have to pay for being alive.

We can clearly see how close Icke comes to specifically describing the networked intelligence properties of the DNA.  In the following passage, for instance, he tells us that the DNA acts both as a receiver and as a transmitter.  After referring to a paper by Mike Lambert (2) about the crystalline structure of the DNA which allows it to act as a receiver, transmitter and amplifier of frequencies of ‘light,’ Icke proceeds: “What struck me most about Mike Lambert’s paper was the relationship between DNA and the receiving and communication of information.  DNA, he pointed out, was a crystal that emitted light energy in the form of photons to such an extent that it had been compared, by some, to an ‘ultra weak laser’ (the same with the RNA).  The cutting edge of scientific research is beginning to understand that DNA is a perfect antenna/transmitter.  One Internet article said – ‘From the characteristic form of this giant molecule – a wound double helix – the DNA represents an ideal electromagnetic antenna.  On one hand it is elongated and thus a blade antenna, which can take up very well electrical pulses.  On the other hand, seen from above, it has the form of a ring and thus is a very good magnetic antenna.’  It is through this receiver/transmitter that we are connected to the Matrix.”  This is precisely the networked intelligence theory of Fosar & Bludorf expressed in different terms.

Icke’s inspiration mainly comes from using hallucinogenic drugs.  In the following passage he describes his own insights into the networked intelligence in the DNA.  “DNA/RNA is like a computer reacting to the data it receives.  This data can come from the Matrix, our consciousness, or through programs affecting other programs.  The latter includes the way human society is manipulated to program the people with a false reality.  I recalled this in Tales from the Time Loop how I was walking in an altered state on the only other occasion I have tried psychoactive substances, in this case ‘magic mushrooms.’  The voice was talking to me again as I came across a horsebox parked in the street with a horse and rider alongside.   The voice said that the analogy of the horse and rider – body and consciousness – was valid.  Imagine, it said, that the ‘incoming’ consciousness has to cope with all those inherited programs, beliefs, and assumptions of reality carried in the DNA. It said: ‘Do you wonder any longer why people are so easy to manipulate when they inherit that genetic programming to start with?’  Most people expended so much energy coping with the inherited responses, reactions, desires and demands of their DNA that they had little left to look up and see beyond the illusion.  The DNA is decoding the signals from the Matrix into a holographic illusory world and it also connects with the DNA of other people and life forms to create the human collective mind.  This holographic Internet – the Matrix – is what we call ‘Creation’.”  The only problem with Icke’s insight is that he seems to suggest that it is possible for us to somehow rise above this genetic programming in the DNA that has created us.  Not only does he not tell us how to do this but he really offers no suggestion why we should try to out-think the networked intelligence which is our own collective unconscious.  Surely a more reasonable approach is simply to recognize the negative quality, the sadomasochism, that has been programmed into us as a result of the trauma of birth, and then try to deal with that.

Icke wants us to recognize that we are all united in a holographic universe, and in this way we can overcome our base or reptilian instincts that are being fed into consciousness from the Matrix in the DNA.  “Oneness is All Possibility and yet humans overwhelmingly fall into a few basic archetypal personalities.  How can this be?  We see such a  contradiction because the archetypes are not Oneness in awareness of itself; they are software programs downloaded and read by the DNA/RNA.  Look at the classic ‘fight or flight’ response, which comes from the reptilian brain.  When people or animals are faced with danger they either fight or run for it.  Are they really the only choices in such a situation within Infinite Possibility?  No, of course they’re not.  They are programmed  reactions.  Our emotional responses are almost entirely predictable for the same reason.  I have known people in highly volatile relationships who were simply reacting to each other according to the DNA program.  They pressed each other’s buttons and reacted in the same way every time.  It is like tapping data into the other’s computer and pressing enter.  The Matrix wants us to react in this way because it leads to conflict and instinctive (programmed) behaviour that produces the energy that empowers the system.  When some of these volatile couples saw what was happening and stopped reacting according to the program, bingo, the storm was over.  Their consciousness began to have the relationship instead of their DNA programs that react through what we call instinct.”  Here Icke commits the fatal error of assuming that our consciousness is in some way separate from the software program in the DNA, whereas the correct approach is to realize that our consciousness and all our instincts are due to this same software program, so we have to ask ourselves the question what can be the ultimate purpose of this networked intelligence to have programmed this negative sadomasochistic feature into the psyche of every single human being.  Clearly the purpose is for us to recognize it for what it is and try to modify the program from within, rather than to try to step outside the program and view our actions from afar which is simply impossible.

Icke is forced to take a view of the Matrix as an oppressive, manipulating force that imprisons us in a regimented virtual reality.  A virtual reality that has been structured for the benefit of the rich and powerful elite that Icke refers to vaguely as the Illuminati.  No explanation is given why this force in the DNA should be only interested in favouring a rich and powerful elite when in fact the DNA is to be found in all living beings (including plants). Why should the Matrix be discriminating in this way?  “But what is this five-sense jail cell?  It is a prison of the brain and body – the DNA!  While we are focused purely on the five-sense reality we are slaves to the DNA that dictates our thoughts, emotions and actions.  The consciousness of most people never gets its hands on the wheel of life because the DNA will not vacate the driver’s seat.  Consciousness in its reconnected infinite power could easily take control, but it is difficult to do this when you are not aware the you are Infinite Consciousness and you think that the DNA thoughts and emotions you are having are yours.  This is how the movie constantly plays out while slumbering consciousness thinks it is calling the shots!  The aim is to turn conscious beings into generators of fears in all its forms to empower the Matrix, and to take away freedom and replace it with what I call feardom – domination by fear.  One of the major ways this is done is through the software programs that we call ‘leaders.’  You will recall the emphasis I have placed on the obsession of the Illuminati families with interbreeding and genetics…”  It is suggested that it is more satisfactory to recognize that this sadomasochistic element has been programmed into us all, and this is why an elite group of rich and powerful families have risen to the top of society to control us, rather than to assume that there is an evil force in the DNA, the Matrix, that is controlling our instincts and thoughts in order to make it easier for the elite to stay in control and become ever richer and more powerful.

Icke is convinced that the rich and powerful elite (the Illuminati) display reptilian characteristics.  The explanation is that the snake, the reptile, is the universal symbol of sadomasochism.  All the reptilian aspects of the Illuminati that he identifies, are in fact all aspects of the sadomasochistic tendencies that drive us all.  It will be recalled that in a previous chapter we saw how the trauma of birth, when the umbilical cord is severed, creates in us a sense of loss.  The sadomasochistic tendencies arise out of a need to compensate for this sense of loss.  From birth onwards we are motivated by the desire to obtain power and mastery over external objects (including ourselves), in order to compensate for the loss of the first object.  The serpent-like nature of the umbilical cord becomes the symbol for sadomasochism.  The reptilian characteristics of the Illuminati become more pronounced because they are the ones in whom wealth and power is concentrated.  They sit atop the sadomasochistic heap that is human society.

The connection between the reptile, sadomasochism and the Illuminati is unmistakable in the following passage from Icke’s book.  “Talking of which, I have connected a reptilian ‘species’ very strongly to the Illuminati and I can now see more clearly how this fits in.  I remember Credo Mutwa, the Zulu Sanusi, telling me once that ‘to understand the Illuminati you must study the reptile.’  How right he was and even more so in the light of what is emerging.  I did indeed study the reptile and it is as near to a computer program that you could find.  Of course there are variations in it but, basically, they are creatures controlled by instinct (programming) and they will react in an incredibly predictable way to any situation.  I have watched a few demonstrations at crocodile farms in Australia where the keeper told the audience how the croc would react to something he was going to do and every time, without exception, that is what happened.  The Illuminati, too, are nothing if not predictable in their techniques and reactions , and the character traits of the reptilian brain within the human brain mirror those of the reptilians and Illuminati – cold-blooded attitudes with no empathy for their victims, a desire for top-down structures of control, territorialism (this is mine keep out) and obsessive ritualistic behaviour.  This describes the Illuminati exactly because they are reptilian software.  You will find no better example of reptilian behaviour than the British Royal Family, which is obsessed with ritual and protocol.”  All the so-called reptilian traits in this passage can be explained as different aspects of this need for control (over oneself and others) which is the hallmark of sadomasochism.

Icke goes on: “When I say it’s all an illusion and a computer program, I do mean all. It is an apparent contradiction that the earth and the cosmos was supposed to have been created by a loving God and yet what we call Nature is a bloody battleground in which one animal’s survival is dependent on another’s, often grotesque demise.  The voice in Brazil told me that there was no contradiction in this because the ‘law of the wild’ was not the creation of a loving God or Oneness in awareness of itself.  It was a Matrix software program and, without the control of fear, the relationship between animals, and animals and humans, would be very different…  The voice in Brazil asked: ‘Do you think the Infinite, where you are now, would wish to see anything suffer and live in fear, never mind create a structure in which this happened as a matter of course?’  Nature was another holographic projection that was only ‘real’ because we were conditioned to believe it was.  The voice said the ‘laws’ of the natural world reflected the state of being of their creator, the force controlling the Matrix.  This was a state of fear and desperation to survive… a trait of the reptilian brain.  (Observe human society and you’ll see how it is structured in the same way with people surviving or prospering at the expense of others – ‘dog eat dog’ and all that.”

According to Icke’s interpretation there is some sort of intelligent force in the DNA that controls us.  But this is not a ‘good’ force.  It is a malevolent or ‘evil’ force.  This is what is responsible for our reptilian traits.  In the Christian religion this is the Devil, represented symbolically as the serpent.  Icke is therefore forced to ask: “What kind of ‘intelligence’ creates a natural world in which the survival of one depends on tearing another to pieces?  What sick mind would design a global life-cycle in which the participants were in a mode of constant fear – humans as well as animals?  Would a loving God do that?  No, but the mind behind the Matrix would, and it has.”  Essentially what Ickes seems to be saying is that there is no God per se but there is this malevolent intelligence in the DNA that sets up a society based on fear and hatred.  Our DNA is something that we should fight against if we are ever to achieve Infinite Love.

In particular, Icke maintains that the Matrix in the DNA is responsible for ‘the God program’, software specifically designed by the Matrix to further its evil ends of maintaining control by keeping us in a constant state of fear and dread.  Yet another means by which we seek to find compensation for this interminable sense of lack in our own makeup.  “One of the major expressions of the Matrix program in this reality is what we call Religion, and that’s not only Christianity, Judaism, Islam, and the others we associate with that term.  I also mean the religions we call money, politics, the pursuit of ‘success’, television, the cult of celebrity and what has been dubbed the ‘New Age’.  Anything, in fact, that dictates your sense of reality and entraps you in the illusion.  The Matrix loves religions.  They are diversions that hold consciousness in the headlights of an oncoming fairytale.  Which fairytale you choose to believe doesn’t matter so much so long as you buy into one of them and, of course, your DNA is always there to guide you.  The idea is to keep you focused on one obsession so you don’t see the guy at the stove preparing the gravy.  Horses have wide peripheral vision and some wear blinkers to ensure they can only see what’s in front of them and not the panorama they would normally see.  The blinkers are there to focus the horse on the desired activity – the race – and stop it being distracted by other horses or influences.  The religions in all their forms are blinkers for humans.  They are there to discourage consciousness from seeing beyond the program because they are focused on one predominant belief or goal.  The Silent Weapons for a Quiet War  document said: ‘Keep them busy, busy, busy, back on the farm with the other animals.’  The Matrix wants to keep the cell door bolted and religions have served the cause magnificently.  They entrap people in laws, irrelevance, and fine detail to such an extent that the big picture is never seen.”

The rest of his chapter on The God Program is actually taken up with a discussion of various irrational ritualistic and ceremonial observances in some of the major religions.  He makes the point that an important part of the God Program is to force or pressure children to follow the parents’ beliefs.  Also he makes the point that the reason why religions survive despite their nonsensical dogma is that they perpetuate in the population certain assumptions that continue to influence our basic attitudes even though science or common sense is actually telling us that it is a fallacy.  No-one is able to completely break out of this mindset created by the God Program, even our so-called geniuses, the greatest thinkers who have ever lived.  “Albert Einstein made some belief-shattering scientific discoveries, but he was, himself, imprisoned by belief.  He was one who proposed the quantum theory but, once he realized the implications of this breakthrough for his assumptions about God, he spent the rest of his life trying (in vain) to disprove the findings of quantum physics.”

Here again, Icke sees the God Program as having been primarily created by the Matrix in the DNA to benefit certain rich and powerful families, the Illuminati.  “The Matrix created the ‘gods’ of the religions and in fact there is only one Matrix ‘God’ worshipped in different ways by the different versions of the program.”  According to him the Matrix in the DNA has been working in favour of the Illuminati since ancient times.  Presumably therefore this Matrix has been a feature of our DNA since time immemorial.  The network intelligence is infinite and has always sought to subjugate human society and to concentrate power in the hands of a rich and powerful elite.  “The Illuminati families have played a predominant role in the creation of the major theological and fiscal religions, everything from Christianity and Judaism to the New Age and the worship of money.”

We have seen how the fundamental characteristic of sadomasochism is the need for control and power, and obviously Icke is arguing that the God Program in all its forms is the means by which the people on the highest rung of human society are able to control the rank and file.  He says: “There is one other point to make about religion in all its forms.  They encourage or impose rigid beliefs and these stem the flow of energy through the DNA network and suppress (make correspondingly dense and rigid) the resonance of the human hologram.  This locks people deeper into the low frequencies of the Matrix program.  American psychiatrist, David Shainberg, from the William Alanson

White Institute of Psychiatry in New York, believes that thoughts are vortices that can become fixed and rigid.  He suggests that these manifest themselves as fixed opinions, unchanging views and a rigid sense reality that is resistant to change.  He is correct and this is reflected in the brain where fixed neuron connections caused by rigid belief close down the central processing unit to higher perception.  When you fall for the God Program, the Matrix has you – big time.”

Here again we see how Icke argues that this force in the DNA – the Matrix – is a biological computer that has an agenda of its own to entrap the human mentality into a fixed and servile mindset. Its purpose is to make us easier to manipulate by the rich and powerful in the furtherance of their own ends.  It is suggested that we should take Icke’s argument a stage further, and recognize that the same DNA (the same biological computer) is in all sentient beings, including plants.  What we then have is a networked intelligence that sets up the consciousness of all creatures.  The same networked intelligence that causes the members of the Illuminati to think the way they do is also causing the rank and file in society to defer to them and accept their leadership.  Icke has identified the intelligence in the DNA as ‘bad’ because it causes all humans to think in rigid and unchanging patterns and therefore makes them easier to manipulate.  What we should be asking is why and how this networked intelligence in the DNA has set up all this diversity.  As to the how, the answer is this sadomasochistic element that is built into us from birth onwards as a result of losing the blissful conditions in the womb and the umbilical cord being severed.  From that point onwards we are all looking for compensation.  We are all looking to gain control and mastery over the external objects to make up for the loss of the first object.  This is the reptile in us all.  This need for compensation is our negative side.  If Icke identifies more of the reptilian features in the Illuminati, that is because they are the ones in whom the need for compensation is strongest.  They are the ones who have more power, more wealth, more possessions, more control.  The reptilian, sadomasochistic characteristics are more pronounced in them, and this is what gives them the edge over the rank and file.  The rest of us have the same reptilian, sadomasochistic tendencies – and just as strongly – but in our case these tendencies only serve to make us easier to control and manipulate.  The masochistic aspect becomes predominant which means that we become servile and obedient and ready to submit to control.  As to why the networked intelligence in the DNA has built this sadomasochistic element into our natures, the answer is that this is the only way to give us the motivation necessary to create a civilization.  Without this desire to control and be controlled, we would be mere vegetables.

In the sermons of the celebrated 17th century poet and preacher, John Donne, we find some of the finest expressions of the God Program.  It will not surprise us to find that a principle theme in his writings is this aspect of power.  Almighty means exactly that – a supremely powerful God to whom we owe allegiance out of fear.  In the following passage Donne also refers to the omnipotence of God which of course means the same thing.  We also find Donne grappling with this question how God can be all powerful and all mighty and still be a nonphysical entity that has created us out of nothing.   “…Of all the ways in which God hath expressed himself towards us, we have made no word which does less signify what we mean than ‘power’: for power, which is but an ability to do, ever relates to some future thing, and God is ever present, simple, and pure act.  But we think we have done much and have gone far when we have made up the word ‘omnipotence’ – which is in both ways improper; for it is much too short, because omnipotence supposes and confesses a matter and subject to work upon, and yet God was the same when there was nothing.  And then it over-reaches and goes downward beyond God: for God hath not, or is not, such an omnipotence  as can do all things.  For though squeamish and tenderer men think it more mannerly to say This thing cannot be done than God cannot do this thing, yet it is all one.  And if that be an omnipotence which is limited with the nature of the worker, or with the congruity of the subject, other things may encroach upon the word omnipotent; that is, they can do all things which are not against their nature or the nature of the matter upon which they work.  Beza therefore might well enough say that God could not make a body without place; and Prateolus might truly enough infer upon that, that the Bezantines (as he calls them) deny omnipotence in God. For both are true.  And therefore I doubt not that it hath some mystery that the word ‘omnipotence’ is not found in all the Bible, nor ‘omnipotent’ in the New Testament.  And where it is in the Old, it would rather be interpreted ‘all-sufficient’ than ‘almighty’ – between which there is much difference...  So God is also all-perficient: that is, all and all parts of every work are his entirely; and lest any might seem to escape him and be attributed to nature or to art, all things were in him at once before he made nature, or she art.  All things which we do today were done by us in him before we were made.  And now (when we are produced in time, as they were foreseen in eternity) his exciting grace provokes every particular good work, and his assisting grace perfects it.  And yet we may not say but that God begins many things which we frustrate, and calls when we come not.  So that as yet our understanding hath found no word which is well proportioned to that which we mean by ‘power of God’…”  Once we appreciate that there is a networked intelligence in the DNA that sets up the consciousness of all living beings (including plants) then we come to a much clearer understanding of this idea of omnipotence that has vexed Donne and many others.

In the following passage however we see how Donne works on this notion of power in God in order to exhort his followers to obey the priests and the civil law.  “The sin directed against the Father, whom we consider to be the root and centre of all power, is, when as some men have thought the soul of man to be nothing but a resultance of the temperament and constitution of the body of man, and no infusion from God, so they think that power, by which the world is governed, is but a resultant of the consent, and the tacit voice of the people, who are content, for their ease to be so governed, and no particular ordinance from God:  It is an undervaluing, a false conception, a misapprehension of those beams of power, which God from himself sheds upon those, whom himself calls God in this world.  We sin then against the Father, when we undervalue God in his priest.  God hath made no step in that perverse way of the Roman Church, to prefer, so as they do, the priest before the King; yet, speaking in two several places, of the dignity of his people, first, as Jews, then as Christians, he says in one place, They shall be a Kingdom, and a Kingdom of Priests; and he says in the other, They shall be Sacerdotium, and Regale Sacerdotium, priests, and royal priests: In one place, the King, in the other, the priest mentioned first, and in both places, both involved in one another:  The blessings from both are so great, as that the Holy Ghost expresses them by one another mutually… So also do we sin against the Father, the root of power, in conceiving amiss of the power of the Civil Magistrate: Whether where God is pleased to represent his unity, in one person, in a King; or to express it in a plurality of persons, in divers Governors…”  In the God Program the notion of ‘good’ becomes synonymous with the notion of obedience to authority.  There is nothing intrinsically ‘good’ about obedience.  To sin is to simply disobey a supreme power that has the ability to punish.  This is why we conventionally refer to God as Our Lord, Our Master, King of Kings etc etc – all conventional notions of political power.  There is nothing intrinsically ‘good’ about obeying God’s commandments.  It all gets down to fearing the brute force of God which is a transparently mundane notion of power.

We also find in Donne’s particular expression of the God Program the notion that God is in all things and that we are members of a holographic universe.  “We are not sure that stones have not life; stones may have life; neither (to speak humanly) is it unreasonably thought by them, that thought the whole world to be inanimated by one soul, and to be one entire living creature…”  This is essentially what Icke was arguing in his book and it can only be explained on the basis that there is a networked intelligence in the DNA that sets up the consciousness of all living creatures.

The sadomasochistic aspects of the God Program comes through in this following excerpt from one of Donne’s sermons. “The word of God written by the Holy Ghost is a witness, and so the Holy Ghost is a witness against heretics.  Against tyrants and persecutors, the office of a witness is an honourable office too; for that which we call more passionately, and more gloriously martyrdom, is but testimony; A martyr is nothing but a witness.  He that pledges Christ in his own wine, in his own cup, in blood;  He that washes away his sins in a second baptism, and hath found a lawful way of re-baptizing, even in blood;  He that waters the prophets’ ploughing, and the apostles’ sowing with blood; He that can be content to bleed as long as a tyrant can foam, or an executioner sweat;  He that is pickled, nay embalmed in blood, salted with fire, and preserved in his own ashes;  He that (to contract all, nay to enlarge beyond all) suffers in the Inquisition, when his body is upon the rack, when the rags are in his throat, when the boots are upon his legs, when the splinters are under his nails, if in those agonies he have the vigour to say, I suffer this to show what my Saviour suffered, must yet make this difference, He suffered as a Saviour, I suffer but as a witness.  But yet to him that suffers as a martyr, as a witness, a crown is reserved.”

The main theme in Icke’s book is that despite appearances we are all in fact a unity.  The diversity that we see around us is just an illusion and that in some fundamental way below the physical we are in fact all connected.  Evidently Icke would not therefore disagree with this statement by John Donne from one of his sermons.  “The church is Catholic, universal, so are all her actions; all that she does belong to all.  When she baptizes a child, that action concerns me; for that child is thereby connected to that head which is my head too, and ingrafted into that body whereof I am a member.  And when she buries a man, that action concerns me: all mankind is of one author, and is one volume; when one man dies, one chapter is not torn out of the book, but translated into a better language; and every chapter must be so translated; God employs several translators; some pieces are translated by age, some by sickness, some by war, some by justice; but God’s hand is in every translation, and his hand shall bind up all our scattered leaves again, for that library where every book shall lie open to one another.  As therefore the bell that rings to a sermon calls not upon the preacher only, but upon the congregation to come, so this bell calls us all…”  Clearly Donne has an intuition as to the underlying unity of life.  Not just that all living creatures are united in the substratum, but that God is a part of this unity as well.  Such an intuition can only be explained on the basis that there is a networked intelligence in the DNA that sets up all life.

We also find in Donne’s sermons the notion that we are tainted with the original sin at birth.  “God, whose goodness, and wisdom will have that substance to become a man, he creates a soul for it, or creates a soul in it, (I dispute not that) he sends a light, or he kindles a light, in that lanthorn; and here’s no arrow shot neither; here’s no sin in that soul, that God creates; for there God should create something that were evil; and that cannot be said: Here’s no arrow shot from the body, no sin in the body alone; None from the soul, no sin in the soul alone; And yet, the union of this soul and body is so accompanied with God’s malediction for our first transgression, that in the instant of that union of life, as certainly as that body must die, so certainly the whole man must be guilty of original sin.  No man can tell me out of what quiver, yet here is an arrow comes so swiftly, as that in the very first minute of our life, in our quickening in our mother’s womb, we become guilty of Adam’s sin done 6000 years before, and subject to all those arrows, hunger, labour, grief, sickness, and death, which have been shot after it.  This is the fearful swiftness of this arrow, that God himself cannot get before it.  In the first minute that my soul is infused, the image of God is imprinted in my soul; so forward is God in my behalf, and so early does he visit me.  But yet original sin is there, as soon as that image of God is there.  My soul is capable of God as soon as it is capable of sin; and though sin do not get the start of God, God does not get the start of sin neither.  Powers, that dwell so far asunder, as Heaven, and Hell, God and the Devil, meet in an instant in my soul, in the minute of my quickening, and the image of God and the image of Adam, original sin, enter into me at once, in one, and the same act.  So swift is this arrow, original sin, from which, all arrows of subsequent temptations, are shot, as that God, who comes to my first minute of life, cannot come before death.”

It can be seen that this notion of acquiring the original sin at birth can be explained by the trauma of birth, and the severing of the umbilical cord.  Our introduction into life leaves a physical and emotional scar that will never be erased.  The God Program leads us to conclude that we are in some way the cause of this trauma; that this loss, this suffering, was inflicted upon us as a punishment because of some guilt, some flaw, some defect in ourselves.  As Donne says: “Man hath his name from crying, and the occasion of crying, misery, testified in his entrance into the world, for he is born crying; and our very laws presume, that if he be alive, he will cry, and if he be not heard cry, conclude him to be born dead.”  To break out of the God Program all we need do is recognize that there is no such thing as original sin, and we certainly don’t inherit it prior to birth.  This sense of loss, this sense of scarring, that we all suffer from actually comes as a result of being born.  We leave the blissful conditions in the womb; our umbilical cord (the connection with the mother) is severed, and from that moment onwards we will be driven to seek compensation.  The serpent is the symbol of the umbilical cord that was severed, and the return of the serpent (Quetzalcoatl) will mark the beginning of the new era when we shall know the truth about our basic tendencies.

We also shall know that we are all born sadomasochistic.  “…In peccato concepti , we were conceived in sin, but who can tell us how?  That flesh in our mother’s womb, which we are, having no sin in itself, (for that mass of flesh could not be damned, if there never came a soul into it) and that soul, which comes into that flesh from God, having no sin in it neither, (for God creates nothing infected with sin, neither should that soul be damned, if it came not into that body).  The body, being without sin, and the soul being without sin, yet in the first minute, that this body and soul meet, and are united, we become in that instant, guilty of Adam’s sin, committed six thousand years before.  Such is our sin and uncleanness, in original sin as the subtlest man in the schools, is never able to tell us, how, or when we contracted that sin, but all have it;  And therefore if there by any, anywhere, of that generation, that are pure in their own eyes, and yet are not washed from their filthiness… let that vessel of uncleanness, that barrel of dung, confess a necessity of washing… we are conceived in sin, first, and then we are born the children of wrath.”

Donne also has a keen sense of how the world can be created out of nothingness, that only a networked intelligence in the DNA can explain.  It is obviously impossible for a physical world to be created form nothing; not even God can do this.  However once we accept that the external world is a virtual reality, the programming for which is contained in the DNA, then it becomes perfectly understandable how something can be created from nothing.  Donne says:  “The less any thing is, the less we know it:  how invisible, how inintelligible a thing then, is this nothing!  We say in the School, Deus cognoscibilior Angelis, We have better means to know the nature of God, than of angels, because God hath appeared and manifested himself more in actions, than angels have done: we know what they are, by knowing what they have done; and it is very little that is related to us what angels have done: what then is there that can bring this Nothing to our understanding?  What hath that done?  A Leviathan, a whale, from a grain of spawn; an oak from a buried acorn, is a great; but a great world from nothing, is a strange improvement.  We wonder to see a man rise from nothing to a great estate; but that nothing is but nothing in comparison; but absolutely nothing, merely nothing, is more incomprehensible than any thing, than all things together.”

It is this totally incomprehensible aspect of something being created from nothing that Icke seeks to explain in his book.  According to him we are all in the nature of surfers on the internet.  The cortex of our brain acts as a monitor that enables us to perceive an external world, and the programming for the world is contained in the DNA which acts as a biological computer to generate the images that we see.  Icke sees all our brains networked just like the internet, and this is precisely the theory of the networked intelligence in the DNA that Fosar & Bludorf have been able to explain in more particularity.  Quite clearly they are both endeavouring to explain an identical concept.
